Kibworth Harcourt and Kibworth Beauchamp Village Profiles
GENERAL
The villages of Kibworth Harcourt and Kibworth Beauchamp lie to the south east of Leicester in some of the county's prettiest countryside. Kibworth is a vibrant village with a fantastic community which pulls together to run events including the Great Kibworth Run and carnival. There are a surprising number of high quality sports clubs in the village and some fine restaurants.
There are also a wealth of amenities including schools, doctors surgeries, shops and schools.
HISTORY
Kibworth is the subject of a groundbreaking BBC series "Story Of England"
The villages of Kibwoth Beauchamp and Kibworth Harcourt were originally two separate villages although they are now considered to be one, however,the parish church of St . Wilfrid has always retained two entrances, one for each village, just in case! The name Beauchamp is derived from the de Beauchamp family who held the Manor by right as Chief Pantelers, banner carriers, dressers and butlers, to the King of the day at his Coronation. Whilst the de Harcourt family built a motte and bailey castle in the 12th century and although the castle is no longer there, their name remains. The Industrial revolution brought industry to the rural area and framework knitting developed from a cottage industry into several small workshops.
LOCATION
Kibworth is just off the A6 with good access to Leicester and the motorways. It is equidistant from both Leicester and Market Harborough with their rail links to the capital and beyond.

The village has a well stocked library and two churches, St Wilfrid's Church of England church and Kibworth Methodist Church.

Kibworth Cricket Club The cricket club has been very successful in recent years and honours include National Knockout Champions. There is a fabulous clubhouse where non members can enjoy the facilities as social members.
