South Kilworth Village Profile
The villages of North and South Kilworth lie in the rolling countryside of South Leicestershire, close to the River Avon on the Northamptonshire border. South Kilworth although a relatively small village has a very active community. There are lots of activities in the village including an arts and crafts club, womans institute and toddlers group. There is a lot of information on the villages own website.
At the time of the Domesday Book the two settlements ( North and South Kilworth ) were known as Chivelesworde and Clieveliorde and belonged to the neighbouring village of Stanford on the Avon across the river in Northamptonshire. The settlements were then, effectively, given away by Guy de Reinbudcurt to Benedict who was the founding abbot of Selby and gradually they became known as North and South Kilworth.
